Local Utility Company Puts the Focus on New Energy Efficient Lighting

The Challenge:

In 2016, a utility company set out to help its commercial customers save money every month on energy bills. Their goal was to help customers take the necessary steps to improve their business’s energy efficiency. The focus was to concentrate on energy-efficient lighting and lighting equipment.

The Method:

With guidance from Electrification Corporation, this utility company offered rebates to business customers for replacing outdated incandescent lighting with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and high-efficiency T8 linear fluorescent tubes. Furthermore, these customers received rebates of 35% when they bought highly efficient lamps and ballasts. Moreover, they offered a 0% interest loan program for lighting upgrades through various local lenders.

The Result:

In 2016, 55 commercial customers received a combined $400,000 in rebates for installing LED lighting and other various energy-efficient equipment. Excitingly, this is 9% more than the prior year. One particular credit union earned over $11,000 alone. In addition to their rebates, customers will enjoy a projected savings of $55,000 on energy bills yearly.

A Utility Company Incentivizes Energy-Efficient Improvements

The Challenge:

A well-known utility company set out to incentivize its commercial customers to invest in energy-efficient products and equipment in 2017. Furthermore, they sought to help the city to improve the energy efficiency of the public sphere, including city hall, parking garages, and the local Police Department.

The Method:

As the utility company’s consultant, Electrification Corporation helped design improvement projects to increase energy efficiency, including switching to LED lighting and upgrading heating, cooling, and air conditioning systems. The utility company offered nearly $600,000 in rebates in 2017 alone to help fund the improvements.

The Result:

The utility company’s customers will enjoy an estimated $300,000 in energy cost savings over the lifespan of the new systems. Moreover, these energy-efficient updates significantly improved their facilities.

Hospital Sets Out to Improve Its Heating System Performance

The Challenge:

A Connecticut hospital would like to improve its heating system by reducing heat loss and creating greater efficiency. They understand that investing now in energy efficiency will pay off with the amount they will save on energy in the long run.

The Method:

Under the leadership of Electrification Corporation, the company conducted a careful analysis to find appropriate solutions to heat loss. Insulating the pipes, valves, and fittings throughout the facility was done to help keep heat in lines, dramatically decreasing heat loss.

The Result:

This hospital will save an estimated $88,000 in energy costs every year. Furthermore, they received a rebate check of just over $46,000 from their utility company to help cover the project’s costs. Last but not least, this hospital is doing their part to create a greener future for the world.

Office Space Seeks Green Updates

The Challenge:

Initially built in 1910, a Class B office space looks to modernize its building. They seek to finance the project through a clean energy program. Furthermore, they pursue rebates from their utility company to help with the cost.

The Method:

Electrification Corporation developed a plan with the utility company to help this customer reach their goals. First on the agenda was installing high-efficiency LED lighting to replace outdated incandescent lights. Then, updates to more efficient heating and air-conditioning. Next on the list was the installation of variable frequency drives on the building’s cooling tower. They also upgraded the heat pumps.

The Result:

The company owning this office space earned over $$60,000 to help with the costs of becoming greener. Furthermore, the company will save over $80,000 a year in energy costs because of this project. As a bonus, the tenants utilizing this office space have updates they appreciate daily, such as better and safer lighting.

Major Hospital Prioritizes Energy-Efficient Lighting

The Challenge:

A major hospital explores upgrades that increase energy efficiency and lower energy use. Their goal is to work more efficiently as a healthcare provider. Furthermore, they seek incentives to help them conduct such a massive undertaking.

The Method:

Electrification Corporation worked with the public utility company to provide the hospital a $30,000 rebate to exchange incandescent lights for high-efficiency LED lightbulbs. Nearly 600 new lights will be installed. While this project will take up to a year, its completion will mean significant energy savings.

The Result:

The new energy-efficient LED bulbs save the hospital over $10,000 annually on energy costs. These bulbs are also far safer than the original ones; they do not contain mercury, a dangerous chemical. Furthermore, the new bulbs provide better lighting that is more comfortable for employees.
